THRIVE provides a one-stop-shop for the thirsty Oprah or Discovery-style audiences to get great content, anytime, anywhere. Our goal is to launch a multi-channel digital platform that will offer partners and advertisers the ability to reach a valuable welcoming audience of avid learners - one that is craving content. WHO WE ARE
Jim was the Founder, President, Executive Producer of the New Thought Channel - a streaming and online TV channel dedicated to open spirituality, empowerment and positive conscious media – available nationally on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, dedicated apps for mobile devices, and online. After launching the channel, his duties included negotiations for acquisitions, programming the channel, and overseeing production and post-production. At NTC, he produced numerous programs, including One Simple Idea, The Master Class Series with Mitch Horowitz, and The Art of You. On One Simple Idea, he was able to feature important individuals like Deepak Chopra, Paul Selig, Kate Jegede, and more.
Jim created and operated a boutique publishing company, Millington House Publishing (as part of Cosmic Stuff Media) and was honored to work with several New York Times Best-selling authors, including Mary Jo Putney, Susan Frasier King, and Patricia Rice.
Jim was an award-winning senior producer/editor with Discovery Networks (at the start of TLC, Animal Planet, and more) and a producer/on-camera talent on A&E’s ‘Random 1’ and the related film ‘Lost in Woonsocket’. He was a Senior Media Researcher and Manager of Media Monitoring at Vocus, Inc. (Now part of Cision).
Three decades spent creating memorable and exciting campaigns for powerhouse brands like NAB Show, The Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, their associated brand extensions and working with industry partners give Laura wide-ranging perspective, deep comprehension, and acute insight across the entire landscape of media and entertainment. This provides an uncommon knowledge base and extraordinary skill set from which to develop innovative concepts and seek new frontiers on behalf of the clients she serves.
Prior to consulting, Laura worked ten years at Discovery Communications, Inc. where she was an integral member of the multi-award winning marketing team for The Discovery Channel. During her tenure, the marketing team grew the network from infancy to distribution to over 70 million US households and globally in 85 countries, establishing The Discovery Channel as the world’s foremost producer and distributor of non-fiction entertainment, and building the most valuable audience in cable history.
Her team was immersed in the re-brand and launch of The Learning Channel, now TLC, transitioning it from an educational to entertainment focused media entity, as well as the branding and launch of Animal Planet, and brand transition of newly acquired The Nature Company retail chain to Discovery Channel Stores. Laura also served 10 years as the lead marketer for internationally acclaimed Shark Week, an annual summer stunt still running three decades later.
